A Golden Retriever is a great type of dog to have in your home.

This will help you to have a dog who is loyal and will have a lot of fun with everyone in the family.

As you start to do some of your research on which type of this dog breed is going to be the best for your needs, you may notice that there is more than one type of Golden Retriever for you to choose.

But what are the three types of golden retrievers and how are they the same and how are they different?

The three main types of Golden Retrievers are the American, the English, and the Canadian Golden Retriever. The main difference between these three dogs is where they come from. They are all the same breed and originally are from Scotland, even though the colors and type of coat will change based on where they are from.

Let’s take a closer look at the different types of Golden Retrievers to learn more about their temperament, coat colors, and other things that will make each type a bit more unique.

What are the 3 Types of Golden Retrievers?

The Golden Retriever is a fun dog to have around your home.

They have a lot of loyalty and an easy temper that is going to make them do well around the kids and anyone who comes to visit the house.

They will also be able to spend time running around and playing with the kids and will need a lot of exercise at the same time.

The three main types of golden retrievers that you will be able to choose from for your home includes the Canadian, English, and the American.

These are going to have all of the good trains that you will need when it comes to this breed and they can be a lot of fun for the whole family as well.

The one that you choose is likely going to have to do which type you like the best and what is available in your area.

First, we can look at the Canadian Golden Retriever.

When you take a look at this breed, you will notice that one of the main differences will come in the fur.

They have hair that is not as feathery as some of the other dogs.

It is often darker and shorter than some of those options and will not be as thick and dense as what you are able to work with.

When it is compared to the British golden, this Canadian golden is going to be a bit taller, so if you are worried about the height of the dog, you may want to go with a different type of the golden retriever.

The coat color is often a little bit different than some of the other options as well.

Then there is the British or the English golden retriever.

These are the same kind of dog and they are going to come from the England area.

This dog is going to have a coat that is long and feathery, with a cream color to it.

The skull of this dog is going to be broad and darker and their eyes are going to be rounder.

This is a shorter type of golden retriever as well.

Their legs are shorter as are their tails. But their weight is going to end up heavier than the other two breeds.

The biggest difference that you are going to see between the American and the British breed is the build of them, but they will have a temperament that is very similar.

And then we have the American golden retriever.

These dogs are going to have coats that are a dark golden, but they are going to enjoy fur that is just as long and wavy as the British breed from above.

This breed is going to be round and they have their eyes are going to be lighter.

The body of this dog is going to be less stocky and lankier than the British breed and the coat is going to be denser and better able to repel water with a bit of feathering.

As you can see, these three dogs are going to be very similar to one another and the slight differences are not that much different.

You can choose any dog from these three and see how great they are for your family.

The Colors, Shades, and Tones of the Golden Retriever

No matter the type of Golden Retriever you have or would like to get, you will find that this dog has a radiant coat of gold.

They are a very muscular dog and has friendly eyes while being able to run all around.

They are reliable, intelligent, and outgoing. These dogs are playful and energetic as well.

There are so many benefits to choose when it comes to this dog.

They are known for being trainable and easy to get along with.

They are loyal and do great when you want to take them out hunting.

They will also be able to swim well and work well as search and rescue animals, helping the blind, and as therapy dogs as well.

When it comes to the color of the goat of any of these dogs, you will find that they get their coloring from the pigmentation in the gene pool. There is a lot of variation that can show up in this and it is hard to tell the color the dog will be when they are born.

They will turn into some form of gold though, no matter the age.

As for the American Kennel Club, they will only recognize three main color classifications.

This includes the dark golden, the light golden, and the golden.

The cream color was added to the English standard in 1936.

The other goldens can have this coloring as well, it is just not a coloring that is recognized by the AKC at this time.

Are All Types of Golden Retrievers the Same?

While it may seem like there are three different types of golden retrievers you can work with, all of them are going to be pretty similar.

There are a few things with the fur that are slightly different, but this just has to do with the genetics that go with each dog more than anything else.

There are plenty of chances that the dogs will look the same, even when they fit into the different varieties.

In general, the Golden Retriever that you choose is going to have a lot of similar characteristics, health needs, and temperament as some of the other ones in their breeds.

They are going to be more common then they are different.

Some of the things that you will notice with this type of dog, no matter the variety that they are, includes:

  1. The dog loves to be outside and will be active. They like to hunt and swim and move around as much as possible.
  2. After they are able to get some of the energy out, they will be able to calm down when they are inside, which makes them a good pet for families.
  3. This is a dog that is easy to train. In fact, you will need to spend some time to train them so that they can work that brain out. They are also a really easy-going kind of dog.
  4. This dog is sensitive and independent thinker. This helps them to learn quickly and get along well with other people.
  5. This is a smart dog and you will need to take the right steps to make sure this dog will not get bored.
  6. Even-tempered, faithful, and well-behaved, which makes them do well with kids and all types of families.
  7. These are social animals that like to be around other people and can develop a bit of separation anxiety if the owner leaves them alone for too long.

All of these are going to be found with all golden retrievers, no matter the type or variety that they are.

This is going to make it easier to figure out if any dog in this breed is the right one for your needs.

All of them will share these characteristics, which will make it a good dog for your home.
